For a NATUREHIKE tent, "waterproof" means all external fabric has been coated with our exceptional polyurethane coatings, ensuring watertight seams straight out of the bag. The "mm" rating stands for millimeters, representing a standardized measure of waterproofing. For example, a 3000mm rating indicates the fabric can withstand a 3000mm (9.85') column of water for over a minute before any seepage occurs. This level of waterproofing can prevent rain from entering the tent even during hurricane-force storms.

We no longer sell parts separately. If any product parts purchased through the NATUREHIKE website are damaged, please email us with your order details and a picture or video proof of the damaged parts. We will assess the situation and, based on our warehouse inventory, aim to offer a satisfactory solution.

"D" stands for Denier, a unit of measurement for the fineness of fibers, filaments, and yarns. Lower numbers indicate lighter and finer fibers, while higher numbers signify heavier and coarser fibers.

"T" stands for Thread Count, which is the number of warp and fill threads in a square inch of fabric. Lower thread counts represent loosely woven fabrics, and higher thread counts indicate tightly woven fabrics. Together, these numbers help indicate the strength and feel of the fabric.

Condensation in a tent is caused by moisture build-up due to temperature differences between the inside and outside. The main sources of condensation are:

  • Weather Conditions: High humidity, low temperatures, and rain.
  • People: Breathing and skin evaporation produce 1-2 pints of moisture per night.
  • Wet Environment: Wet ground or gear stored inside the tent.

To reduce condensation, ensure proper ventilation. Cooler, drier air should flow in while warm, moist air escapes. Utilize mesh fabrics, peak vents, and open doors to increase airflow. Leave at least two vents open and guy out the rainfly for better ventilation.

Cleaning your tent is only necessary if it has an offensive odor or is heavily soiled. Follow these steps for effective cleaning:

For Light Cleaning: Use a garden hose to remove loose dirt.

For Heavier Cleaning:

  • Set up your tent.
  • Hand wash with warm water, a sponge, and mild, non-detergent soap.
  • Avoid dishwashing liquid, detergent, bleach, pre-soaking solutions, or spot removers.

Rinsing and Drying:

  • Rinse thoroughly.
  • Dry by pitching or line-drying.

Important: Do not dry clean, machine-wash, or machine-dry your tent as these methods can strip the waterproof coatings.

Preventing mildew is crucial for maintaining your tent. Follow these steps:

  1. Dry Your Tent Immediately: Never store a wet tent. Mildew can start forming in just 24 hours, especially in warm conditions.
  2. Thorough Drying: Ensure your tent is completely dry before storage. Even if it seems dry, hang it outside or loosely pile it indoors for a few days. Turn it inside out to ensure all parts are dry.
  3. Avoid Machine Drying: Never use a machine dryer as the heat can damage the fabric.

Mildew can cause permanent staining and damage waterproof coatings, and such damage is not covered by warranty.

Too many issues to ignore

Stove jack hole was off centre, and when not in use the stove jack cover didn't seal properly so in high winds this is a wind funnel making the tent flap like crazy. Doesn't withstand gusts well - snow/storm flaps are split across the bottom and individually flap. If rolled up to stop this, the wind just funnels in underneath the tent. Due to the length of the pole, it's impossible to lower the tent.
A seam across the panel with the stove jack (where the cover can be rolled up on the outside) means that area cannot be effectively guyed out, again resulting in a saggy section of tent that catches the wind like a sail. When using as a hot tent, due to the off centre positioning of the stove jack hole, this brings the tent side dangerously close to the stove pipe on the inside of the tent. If there's wind, the panel bows and causes the stove jack to pull down on the stove pipe. At one point on a recent camp, this caused a lit and full stove to skid a little across the heat mat and nearly tip on it's side. Scary.
The vents at the top of the tent are poorly supported, with an oversized foam strut that bends too easily so the vents essentially slam shut if the wind picks up. Not safe when hot tenting and ventilation is paramount. Have had to have both doors open when hot tenting to ensure adequate ventilation which really defeats the purpose.
Condensation can be an issue also.
Oddly the doors can be completely pegged and cinched down but the centre peg points in the middle of each side are shock-corded. Feels like a manufacturing error.
The supplies pegs are basic and bend easily when met with minimal resistance.
Guy lines seem like good quality and are reflective, so fine if you have a head torch but during the day they can be quite tricky to see.
Tent material also seems to be good quality and the zips on the inner are smooth and well-conceived allowing easier opening and access.
Great size and very spacious inside, especially if you have the inner down.

All in though, not really suitable as a hot tent and generally too susceptible to anything more than a light breeze.

Palace for 1

Spent the night in tent irs a palace for 1 it was 27 degrees and 15mph winds. Super nice and cozy. Easy to pitch as the teepee is more a pyramid than the standard octagon

Good Tent

The tent overall is great; good quality, good components, etc., however there are a couple problems: #1. The advertised size of the tent. Your photos give a width of 10.8 ft, and your specs give a width of 118 inches, and the actual width, corner to corner is 115 inches, which is over a foot shorter than advertised by the photo. #2. The stove jack hole was pre-cut, and it's almost to the edge where the velcro attaches it to the tent, not centered at all. In the future, let the consumer cut the hole in the stove jack, that way it's where they want it and the size they need.
